Miguel “MCKO” Cruz (28) began his boxing journey at just 11 years old in St. Petersburg, Florida — the same gym where he would later step into a leadership role, coaching children by the age of 15. From a young age, boxing wasn’t just a sport for Miguel — it was a calling.
At 17 years old, Miguel captured the Florida State ISKA Featherweight Championship Title, building an undefeated record in both boxing and Muay Thai kickboxing. His competitive success was fueled by discipline, grit, and a relentless commitment to mastering his craft — traits that would later define his coaching philosophy and entrepreneurial journey.
The name MCKO is actually his artist name. “MC on the mic, KO in the ring” is his slogan. Miguel’s music is a reflection of his personal life, his albums are the seasons of his life captured into lyrical storytelling. Although he does rap, his music does not fit the “rap” genre. His wife also makes music under the name “Divina”. Together they both have over 100 songs available now on all music streaming platforms.
Beyond the ring, Miguel proved himself as a visionary leader. He founded To The Top Boxing Club in Casselberry, Florida — which quickly became one of Central Florida’s top-rated boxing gyms. After two successful years of ownership and growth, Miguel sold the gym and later relocated to Florida’s Space Coast, where he founded MCKO Boxing in Melbourne, FL. Under his leadership, MCKO Boxing represents more than training — it embodies discipline, character development, and real boxing taught the right way.
The mission is simple:
To use the discipline of boxing to bring out the absolute best in every person who walks through the doors.
From beginners to aspiring professionals, Miguel “MCKO” Cruz continues to build fighters — inside and outside the ring.
